Susan Rademacher (LF ’87) parks curator for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, has been named honorary member of the American Society of Landscape Architects for “achievements of national or international significance.” She joins a distinguished group of non-landscape-architect members, including Jimmy Carter, Colin Powell, Ladybird Johnson, Robert Redford and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Rademacher led the recent renovation of mid-century gem Mellon Square and wrote Mellon Square: Discovering a Modernist Masterpiece. She was editor of Landscape Architecture magazine and a founding editor of Garden Design magazine and has published a number of other books about garden design.
Before she joined the Conservancy in 2007, Rademacher was president of Louisville’s Olmsted Parks Conservancy and assistant director of the Louisville Metro Parks Department. She will be honored at the national ASLA Annual Meeting in Chicago on November 6, 2015.
