For his most recent textbook, John Nolon, a professor at Pace Law School, tapped Rob Lane (LF ’09) to provide illustrations and write a forward. Protecting the Environment Through Land Use Law: Standing Ground looks at the integrated approach some localities are taking to meet the challenges of adapting to climate change and create sustainable neighborhoods. Lane, a senior fellow at Region Plan Association, was a natural choice for collaborator. For several years he’s worked with Nolon to introduce principles of community design, affordable housing and placemaking into trainings for local land use officials and citizen stakeholders. The roles fit well with the commitment Lane made to himself during his Loeb year: to help build local capacity for community planning and design. Learn more about Standing Ground.
