Mike Houck on Nature in Cities

The new George Wright Society Journal of Parks includes a piece by Mike Houck on regional greenspace planning in the Portland-Vancouver region: a historical perspective of 35 years of efforts culminating in the creation of the Intertwine and the Intertwine Alliance. There are lots of lessons for urban greenspace planners. The George Wright Society has generously offered permission to offer the link to the article, but the whole issue is worth perusing when it is available online for nonmembers in a couple of months. In the meantime, read "Regional Parks and Greenspaces Planning in Portland, Oregon:  The Politics and Science of Providing for Nature in Cities."
