Loeb Video Profile: Thaddeus Pawlowski

Thaddeus Pawlowski’s preparation for becoming a leader in disaster recovery planning began in childhood. The son of an architect and an activist, he was raised in a Pennsylvania town that was wiped out by floods 3 times. He sees disaster response as a design challenge: keeping people close to home so they can participate in a democratic planning process gives them comfort and restores their sense of agency. The Loeb Fellowship initiated the Video Profiles project in 2012 to enable current Loeb Fellows to tell their stories, what motivates them and how the Fellowship has been meaningful for their work. Maggie Janik, GSD Multimedia Producer, and Joanne Nerenberg, Loeb Affiliate ‘12, are directing the project.
