How does one define urban excellence?
The Bruner Foundation is writing and curating a series of "Point of View” blogs with Metropolis Magazine that focus on placemaking in American cities. Follow the foundation staff as we hit the road to visit the five finalists for the 2013 Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence. We are spending two to three days at each site gathering information for the selection committee.
The committee reconvenes in May to select the gold medal and four silver medal winners. Two posts so far highlight the finalists and the first visit to the Congo Street Initiative in Dallas. Stay tuned for additional ones on visits to Via Verde in the Bronx, Inspiration Kitchens in Chicago, Louisville Waterfront Park and The Steel Yard in Providence.
