The transformation of Bishan Park in the heart of Singapore - from concrete channel to riverside wonderland - was completed this year as part of the country’s Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters Programme. Park users have flocked to the beautifully restored Kallan River and walkways, playgrounds, and restaurants. The design of the park, by Herbert Dreiseitl (Loeb Fellow 2011) and Atelier Dreiseitl, accounts for seasonally fluctuating water levels and the country’s aim to create new vibrant spaces for community recreation.
The American Society of Landscape Architects interviewed Dreiseitl to learn more about his work and vision for sustainable landscapes and water conservation.
