Inga Saffron (LF ’11) is part of the team that will judge the Connect Kendall Square Open Space Competition. The competition is a unique opportunity to plan and implement a vision for the open space network in this former industrial area that has become a world-renowned center of biotech, high tech research, and innovation.Stage I Submissions are due August 19.
The desired outcome is a framework for Kendall Square and eastern Cambridge that will facilitate the creation of exceptional public spaces, promote the innovative character of the area, and help establish a sense of place and community. The framework will also help determine the character and role of the new public open spaces in the area as well as guide private entities as to potential programming and design of future open space as part of private developments.
GSD alum Ethan Carr (MLA) is also on the 5-person jury, and Roger Boothe (MCP in Urban Design) is an alternate. See the Connect Kendall Square website for more information and to download the competition manual.
