Charles Birnbaum on the Frick Flap

Charles Birnbaum thinks the Frick Collection is making a fatal mistake with its plan to eliminate the Russell Page-designed courtyard in the service of building expansion. In its zeal to expand its footprint, the Frick is about to “destroy an important part of the collection.” It’s part of a disturbing trend among some museums to eradicate historic landscapes when preservation is not convenient.
