What Carter Wiseman (LF '85) calls his “little book,” published in September by Trinity University Press, has become something of a bestseller. Amazon has listed Writing Architecture: A Practical Guide to Clear Communication about the Built Environment at #1 in the categories of Architecture Study and Teaching and Architecture Project Planning and Management. The book is based on the courses Wiseman teaches at the Yale School of Architecture, "Writing on Architecture," and "Case Studies in Architectural Criticism."
Wiseman makes a cogent case for why good writing is an important tool for design students in advancing their education. And it’s critical for practitioners, for whom “expressing the goals of their creative impulses is no less central to persuading a client, a community board, or a potential patron of the virtues of a design proposal.”
