Bryan Bell (LF 2011) was part of a Social Impact Design panel recently hosted by Cara McCarty (LF 2005) and the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum. The occasion was the release of a white paper based on last year’s Social Impact Design Summit and the resulting strategies and actions proposed to advance the field of socially responsible design
Panelists also included Mariana Amatullo (Designmatters, Art Center College of Design), Krista Donaldson (D-Rev, non-profit product development) and Ezio Manzini (Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability Network). Cynthia E. Smith (Cooper-Hewitt curator of Socially Responsible Design), moderated the discussion about what’s new, what’s next and how best to move forward to develop this burgeoning field.
