Alexandra Lange’s Lens on Hélène Binet

“In a world glutted with crystalline digital images of buildings to be scrolled, scanned and pinned, Hélène Binet’s architectural photography stands out for its reserve, its simplicity and an ineffable quality that comes from shooting on film.” Thus Alexandra Lange introduces her interview with Binet for the New York Times. The occasion is Binet’s winning the Julius Shulman Institute 2015 Excellence in Photography award. There’s also an exhibit of her work opening at the Woodbury University Hollywood Gallery in Los Angeles. Read “Reducing Spectacular to Simple,” and learn more about the exhibit.
